WHO IS JUDGE PORTER?
Judge Michael Porter is a lawyer and former judge with over 40 years experience as both. Michael started his legal practice in England in 1965 and became a member of the Alberta bar in 1969.
He sat in the Family, Civil and Criminal divisions of the Alberta Provincial Court until 1997 when he returned to active Law Society membership and began his practice as a Chartered Mediator and Arbitrator. Michael is a Registered Family Mediator and a member of both the Alberta Family Mediation Society, and Family Mediation Canada.
Judge Porter conducts judicial assignments, arbitrations and mediations throughout Canada in a broad cross section of private and public organizations and families.
Michael Porter's true passion is conflict resolution through innovative mediation techniques. Although he conducts mediation in business, construction and employment he specializes in divorce and family mediation. He has carried out in excess of 2500 mediations over the past 12 years. Judge Porter assists all parties involved, through the use of effective communication skills, to develop their own mutually acceptable resolution to their issues.
