WHAT IS MEDIATION?
Mediation is an independent and objective process used to settle disputes. The Mediator assists both parties without bias, guiding them through discussions, exploring options and assisting them in reaching an agreement.

A major part of Judge Porter's mediation practice is in the area of family and divorce mediation. Many families from Calgary and elsewhere have relied on Judge Porter to help guide them through the emotions, child-related issues and financial decisions of separation and divorce, in a manner that is collaborative, non-adversarial and respectful. Involving a trained and experienced family and divorce mediation professional such as Judge Porter, early in your separation and divorce decisions, can be a very positive step in helping to ease the burdens you and your family face throughout a difficult time.

The process is without prejudice and confidential. This means that both parties can candidly express their positions without fear that what is said at the mediation may later be used against them in court.
